Shon Wyz appointed as Busoga Tourism and Heritage Ministry Ambassador 2024-2025

On August 17th, during the Kagulu Rock Climbing Challenge, the Chairperson of the Busoga Tourism Board and the first Deputy Prime Minister for East Africa in Uganda, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, officially introduced Shon Wyz as the new Ambassador for Busoga Tourism and Heritage Ministry.

 

In this role, Shon Wyz will promote the beauty and attractions of the Busoga region through music.

 

Brief Bio of Shon Wyz:

 

Born on December 3rd, 2002, at Bugembe Hospital in Jinja District, Shon Wyz is the son of the late Naika Tobias and Nabirye Madina. He attended Getrade Academy Buwenge, Iganga High, and Bukoyo SS, and later earned a Certificate in Tourism and Hotel Management from Makerere University.

 

Shon Wyz began his music career in 2018 under Foda Management, led by industry veterans James Mutyabule (aka Foda Man) and Bamulange Andrew (aka Andy Bash). In 2022, at just 22 years old, he embarked on a solo career as an Afrobeat artist and songwriter in Kampala.

 

His notable works include the beloved theme song “Guma Guma” for Pearl Magic, as well as writing songs for artists like Pallaso- Binyuma, Irene Kayemba – Property, Kataleya & Kandle – katono, and Winnie Nwaji – Malaika

 

In his new role, Shon Wyz has collaborated with Voyce Nancy (aka Vocal Bank) to produce a stunning tourism song titled “Muli Nile.” During an exclusive interview, he revealed that Minister for Tourism, Hon. Helen Namutamba, advised him to collaborate with a female artist to showcase the beauty of Busoga.
