SONEA AWARDS 2025

The Source of the Nile Entertainment Awards (SONEA) is a celebration of arts, entertainment, and humanity in the Busoga Region. With 60% of the votes from the public and 40% from SONEA, it’s a true representation of community sentiment and expert judgment.

Regional categories include nominations from Kamuli, Iganga, Namutumba, Kaliro, Bugiri Bugweri, Jinja, Mayuge, Buyende, Namayingo, and Luuka, while general categories encompass Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and more.

From recognizing the Best Kadongokamu Song to honoring the Best Humanitarian Service, SONEA embraces diversity and excellence across various domains. It celebrates breakout talents, outstanding productions, and impactful contributions to society.

In addition to artistic achievements, the awards also acknowledge community involvement, with categories like Best Rugby Team and Best Premiere League Fans Team.

SONEA serves as a platform for emerging talents to shine and established artists to be recognized for their contributions. It’s a testament to the vibrant cultural scene and the spirit of unity in the Busoga Region.

With categories ranging from Best Dance Group to Best Comedian, SONEA reflects the richness and dynamism of the local entertainment landscape, fostering talent and inspiring creativity.

A holistically empowered poverty free and self-sustaining entertainment
community.

OUR AIM

To empower and provide these youths with a platform for them to
showcase their skills and talents, while also promoting the rich culture
and heritage of Busoga.

OBJECTIVES

To Increase the recognition of talent as a job creation initiative in Busoga
region and Uganda in particular.
To empower young people to effectively use their skills and preferences
to get into employment.
To raise awareness about employment opportunities through talent in
the country and liaising with other stake holders.
